During the summer of 1943, the F6F-5 HELLCAT appeared, an improved version of the F6F-3. It features a completely redesigned windscreen and engine hood and can carry up to 907 kg of bombs under the fuselage and six ground attack rockets under the wings, making it a particularly formidable attack aircraft mainly in the US squadrons Navy, but also the Marine Corps.
